This course is aimed at those who have completed our Sketching Interior Spaces Part 1' course (or who have the skills outlined in Part 1) and who wish to continue to develop their drawing skills in sketchbook format in response to live spaces.

 

Detailed Description

This course aims to introduce students to more specialist techniques (such as working with 2 point perspective and more complex viewpoints) as well as developing a further understanding of the effective use of key drawing media in terms of describing figures and movement, textures, light and shadows when observing and responding to interior environments.

Students will learn about the principles of 2 point perspective and how to apply and explore its rules when sketching on location. Each week students will visit some of Londons most exciting and prestigious museums and cultural spaces from which to record their observations and build confidence in developing their own individual drawing skills.

Techniques taught:

*Developing 2 point perspective techniques.
* How to draw figures and capture movement.
* Mark-making and texture/ materiality.
* Working creatively with colour to describe light, tone and value

Learning outcomes:

By the end of the course students will have a solid foundation and understanding of the principles of 2 point perspective and how to apply it effectively when responding to live interiors and environments.

Students will supply their own materials for this course and, at a minimum are required to bring the below.

A). A4 Daler Rowney Graduate Sketchbook (landscape format- plain black hardback cover)
B). Range of soft pencils - HB/ 2B/ 4B/ 6B/ 9B
C). Pencil sharpener/ Plastic 12 inch transparent ruler/ Eraser/ Putty Rubber
D). Battery operated eraser - Jakar is a good brand (3)
E). A range of Faber Castell Black ink Pitt Artist Pens - wallet of four with assorted nibs (10)
F). Brush Pen (Black ink)
G). Tin of 12 colour pencils (6 - 10)
H). Letraset ProMarker Set (6 colours)- Neutral Tones (Greys). (6-99)

Other costs include travel to drawing sites within central London.

This course is suitable for those who have completed the Sketching Interior Spaces Part 1 course and who have understood the basic principles of perspective and how to work with key drawing media but who now wish to develop and refine their skills further.

For those who have not attended Part 1, basic knowledge of the principles and application of one-point perspective and some prior drawing skills and ability across basic media outlined in Part 1 would be needed before attending this course.
