This is an introductory course in the restoration and repair of wooden objects and furniture. Suitable for both beginners and for those with some experience.
The course will cover a wide range of practical skills and knowledge relating to the restoration of furniture or wooden objects. Under the supervision of an experienced tutor, students will have the opportunity to work on their own projects, which may include carving, gilding, furniture and other related objects.
Students must provide their own objects; these can be stored at the University, however, insurance must be provided for by the owner.
Tools and materials can be provided, although this does depend on the size and nature of the objects.
The University is unable to store large objects. Please ensure that your project piece is a smaller item as outlined on the course page, for example: a jewellery box, tea caddy, writing slope... these box shaped antiques also allow for a multitude of practical restoration applications.
