This course is designed to extended furniture making skills which have been acquired on the Introduction to Furniture making course.
This course is designed to build confidence with hand tool use, understanding of construction and introduce basic safe use of fixed machinery and portable power tools.
The project will be within everyone’s capabilities but be challenging enough to stretch those woodworkers who have already built good basic skills. There will be a set project like the Introduction but with some room for personal interpretation.
It will involve all stages of production from making cutting lists, preparing materials and adapting/reading drawings to construction, surface preparation and hand finishing. Students will produce work that they will take away at the end of the course.
This course is aimed at individuals who have completed the Introduction to Furniture Making course or have a little previous experience in woodworking. It will prepare participants who do not perhaps feel quite ready for the advanced course yet, but wish to extend their skills.
